My name is Maria Cristina Arcanjo Browne.
I was born in Belem do Para, Brazil.
Right in the heart of the Amazon.
It makes me feel good to say that I am from the jungle.
I don’t know why, maybe it gets me closer to my roots.
I also lived in Sao Paulo until my teenage years.
After that I went to Rio.
Observing it closer, my whole life has been an enormous dream.
I like to experiment with new things. My life is my dream laboratory.
I do like to chase my dreams.
First, I dreamt to be a journalist, so I went to Gama Filho University to study journalism.
I graduated in 1987, and started a career.
I dreamt to work on television, radio, newspaper, magazine, and eventually in the government working in communication.
I did it all.
I dreamt it, and it came true.
Then, I got bored a little, being only a journalist.
So I dreamt to be a singer.
I found a band and recorded a video.
It was a success around my family, only, except my beloved mother. That’s another story…
I dreamt that I was a Portuguese teacher.
I began to teach. And I wrote a Portuguese textbook.
I dreamt that I wanted to go to graduate school in a foreign place, in another language.
I studied and received my masters at the University of Miami.
Now I am dreaming the biggest dream of all.
I am painting my world.
I like to believe that painting is my calling.
It is when I am painting that I can see the world from a different and extraordinary perspective.
I still do not know who I am, or why I am here…
The only thing I can do is to keep on dreaming!
It all starts with a simple line. A magic line!
